Alertpay is a new paypal alternative and is offered in countries where paypal is not available. AlertPay is a privately owned and managed company founded in 2004 with its office headquarters in Montreal, Canada. Because it is new there are not many sites that accept alertpay. Alertpay offers three three types of accounts. Personal starter, Personal pro and Business account.

The personal starter account is the recommended account for a beginner. You can send and receive money for free. The disadvantage of personal starter account is that it has a monthly receiving limit of $400 and cumulative yearly receiving limit of $2000. Also you can’t use credit card funded payments. You can upgrade your personal starter account to a personal pro account to remove these limitations. There is a receiving fee of 2.5% + $0.25 per transaction in a personal pro and business account. You can fund your account by using credit card.

You can withdraw money from alertpay by cheque, bank transfer and wire transfer. The bank transfer withdrawal fee is just $0.5. Indians can withdraw by cheque and wire transfer. For withdrawal by cheque there is a fee of $3 and wire transfer withdrawal fee is $15. I have used alertpay and I have withdrawn money by cheque.

Moneybookers is one of the largest online payments systems and is a paypal alternative. Like paypal you can send and receive money online easily and securely without giving out giving out your financial information like bank account or credit card details. Moneybookers was founded in 2001 in London and is regulated by the Financial Services Authority of the United Kingdom. Moneybookers has over six million account holders.

Unlike paypal where sending money is free, Moneybookers charge a fee for sending money. The sending fee is 1% of the amount and a maximum of 0.5 Euro. Receiving money in your Moneybookers account is free. Moneybookers support more numbers of currencies than paypal and supports Indian rupees.

You can fund your moneybookers account by using bank wire transfer or credit card. You must verify your credit card first before you can fund your account using credit card. You can withdraw money by check or to your credit card or bank account. You can withdraw money to your bank account in India. Like paypal an unverified account will have a lower transaction limit. You can increase your limit by verifying your address, credit card and bank account.

Moneybookers support local payment methods in over 30 countries. There are many companies which use moneybookers as the payment method. More than 30,000 merchants use Moneybookers’ payments service, including Skype, Tpad internet phone etc. You can also use moneybookers for forex trading.
