Moneybookers – Paypal Alternative

Moneybookers is one of the largest online payments systems and is a paypal alternative. Like paypal you can send and receive money online easily and securely without giving out giving out your financial information like bank account or credit card details. Moneybookers was founded in 2001 in London and is regulated by the Financial Services Authority of the United Kingdom. Moneybookers has over six million account holders.

Unlike paypal where sending money is free, Moneybookers charge a fee for sending money. The sending fee is 1% of the amount and a maximum of 0.5 Euro. Receiving money in your Moneybookers account is free. Moneybookers support more numbers of currencies than paypal and supports Indian rupees.

You can fund your moneybookers account by using bank wire transfer or credit card. You must verify your credit card first before you can fund your account using credit card. You can withdraw money by check or to your credit card or bank account. You can withdraw money to your bank account in India. Like paypal an unverified account will have a lower transaction limit. You can increase your limit by verifying your address, credit card and bank account.

Moneybookers support local payment methods in over 30 countries. There are many companies which use moneybookers as the payment method. More than 30,000 merchants use Moneybookers’ payments service, including Skype, Tpad internet phone etc. You can also use moneybookers for forex trading.

    Dear Ashaab, You can deposit money in your moneybookers account by wire transfer. It can be done from any good bank. You have to go to the bank branch.

    Hi Shanavas, I have never used moneybookers before. Have verified my address, got mail from MB today.

    Not verified name yet, can I withdraw money to my AXIS Bank account. Also, it my personal account, is there any problem if I get paid through freelancing sites? Thanks!

    Dear Samser, Moneybookers will only send payments by check to India. The check will be in the name given in Moneybookers account.

    Hi, I have incoming payment in EURO currency, its my online service fees, they offered only through moneybookers.com soI have opened an account and got verified with address today. now I m fully confused about SWIFT code, my banks (AXIS ; ICICI) Both have given me their its SWIFT Codes but its not accepting.. can u help me out.

    Thanks for the detailed information on Moneybookers. I have a questions. Does Moneybookers use wire transfer to send money to India? If so, I believe it’s very costly, because all banks charge for incoming wire transfers. Can you please clarify on this? Thanks!

    Dear Pothi, You can’t withdraw money from Moneybookers to Indian bank. Moneybookers only issue a cheque for indians.
